We are climbing with purpose:

We're climbing for fun. We're climbing to test our limits. We're climbing to promote inclusivity & strengthen communities.

We're climbing Denali as a team of six adaptive and non-adaptive athletes, and we invite you to be a part of our journey.

First, check out
the GOAL
We're planning to climb the West Buttress of Denali, North America's highest peak at 20,310'

Why Denali?

It's been a test-piece for ski-mountaineers for decades, it lies within one of the most spectacular U.S. National Parks, and because it'll be fun! (We hope)

Vasu & Pete are striving to make a First Disabled Descent of the peak as a team - that's right, they're going to SKI from the summit of the highest peak in North America.

We'll be filming along the way, and can't wait to share the story with the world.
Next, meet

the TEAM

Erich Roepke

Erich is a filmmaker and ski mountaineer from Northeast Oregon. He has filmed and directed a number of short adventure films. His most recent work, Full Circle, is the story of an attempted ski descent of Corcovado inspired by the film 180º South. It's currently making the rounds at film festivals around the world. He currently lives in Victor, Idaho.

Vasu Sojitra

Vasu was only nine months old when septicemia resulted in the amputation of one of his legs. Since then, Vasu has gained the confidence needed to face new challenges with grace, courage, strength, humor, and unwavering determination.  He continues to challenge the biases that go with being a person of color with a disability. He currently lives in Bozeman, Montana.

Pete McAfee

Pete is a radiology technician, husband, father of two, and backcountry athlete. He had his right leg amputated as a child due to a birth defect, and hasn't looked back since. From his former adventures as a professional jet-skier to climbing Cascades volcanoes, Pete lives every day with unrivaled energy and positivity. He currently lives with his family in Ashland, Oregon.

Ben Farrar

Ben is a ski-mountaineer, climber, and filmmaker originally from Reno/Tahoe, NV. (He also made this website!) Formerly a volunteer ski patroller and EMT, he hopes to join and support the team in a safe and successful ascent of Denali. He lives on the road, exploring the many cultural and geographical landscapes of the American West.

Ted Hesser

Ted is a photographer, videographer & mountain climber living on the road to pursue his passion. Through the lens of rarely seen places, Ted's work blends the worlds of high-adrenaline action, natural beauty and raw human experience. His work has been published by National Geographic Online, Outside Magazine, Rock and Ice Magazine, The Alpinist Magazine, Escalando Climbing Magazine and others.

Stein Retzlaff

Stein is a professional adventurer, photographer, and filmmaker from Lake Tahoe, CA. He first went to the Arctic at 22 years old and has since spent 9 months of the last 5 years on projects in either the Arctic or Antarctic. Stein has also supported projects in Patagonia, the Amazon, Guatemala, and more. He has helped produce global stories for brands that include Outside TV, ROAM Media, SeaLegacy. He is the co-founder of Intrepid Productions, Mosaic Fine Art Collective, and Do Good Shit.

We're super excited about

We've partnered with High Fives, a national organization that focuses on preventing life-changing injuries and providing resources and hope if they happen.

Vasu and Pete both work within their communities to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, and High Fives is an enabling organization that improves access nationwide. Help us build the momentum!

You can build stronger communities with a contribution to our fundraiser! 100% of the proceeds will go to High Fives.
